Song Writing

I am in a song writing class. The teacher made us write poetry. I used to write a lot of poetry as a kid and teenager in Russia. It’s hard to rhyme in English. I never wrote in English (almost). But since the teacher made us write I did. It doesn’t rhyme. But here it is. The subject to write about was “love”.

WHERE IS THE LOVE? by Gypsy Taub

Where is the love?
Lost and abandoned,
Traded for flickering screens,
Cheap sex and an empty high.

Where is God?
Forgotten, distorted,
Exploited, discarded
By gold-covered priests

As they rape our children
In their bible schools,
As they rape our minds and souls
With their promise of hell.

Where is that spark
That ignited my soul
When I was a child,
When I was alive?

I feel God trying to reach me,
Trying to teach me
How to not give up,
With every breath I take.

Love is there, love is here,
It’s deep inside me
Yearning to explode,
Yearning to break free.

Absolutely beautiful. I am praying for your safety, and healthy, and well-being as you face this temporary circumstance. Praying also for you beautiful family and hoping that you are well. We can’t wait to see you free some day (hopefully) soon. Stay well… Gypsy!
